to provide the poor wanderer with shelter..." Isaiah 58:6a, 7b (NIV)
Today, we return to Isaiah 58 and our study of fasting (or religion) that honors God.
Are our homes OPEN FOR BUSINESS?
Do we have an OPEN DOOR POICY or a closed policy to keep out the riff-raff?
Do we welcome family and total strangers or do we make it clear to others that our lives are just too busy and we do not have time for the?
Do we allow messes or lack of a feast to keep us from welcoming others into our homes?
Heavenly Father, forgive us for being so selfish and prideful. Our self-centeredness keeps us from seeing the poor wanderer and inviting him in. Show us who we've been ignoring and grant us compassion to drop what we are doing to make him feel welcome in our lives and in our home. Remind us that everything we have belongs to You and how blessed You are when we share our provisions with others.
