Practicing Honor, Day by Day 29

“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that." 1 Timothy 6:6-8 (NIV)

Today, honor God by having a grateful and content heart.

I was reminded of this beautiful passage this week.

I want to be godly, don’t you? If we do, then we must learn to be content.

If we have food and clothing, then we have all that we truly need.

Most of us have way too much clutter in our lives and most of the time, our stuff distracts us from a relationship with God and others.

May this year be one when we learn to be content and when we throw off the things that entangle us and pursue the One who matters most!

Heavenly Father, I thank You that I have food to eat and clothes to wear. That is all that I really need. And yet, I have so much more. Even then, I find myself wanting a bigger house, a newer vehicle, an upgraded gadget. Please forgive me for being greedy and chasing after things that do not matter. Today, I choose to be content for what I have. From the excess, show me who I can bless today!
