Practicing Honor, Day by Day 82

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NJKV)

Today, look for ways to be a comfort to others.

Have you been the recipient of care during a time of need?

Have others come to your recues during a crisis?

Did you feel the peace that passed understanding guarding you, protecting you and holding you up when everything around you was falling apart?

Today, there are many needs around you.

Open your eyes.

Open your arms.

Open your heart.

Offer a kind word to someone who is feeling desperate, pray with someone who is ill, make a meal for someone in need, or offer your time to help with yard work or house work.

At some point in our lives, most of us will come to a point of crisis or need.

Let us do unto others as we would have them do unto us.

Heavenly Father, I ask You to reveal the ones who need comfort today. You are my comfort and my ever present help in time of need. Today, I choose to be Your representation to the ones you have placed in my life. Give me eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to obey.

Practicing Honor, Day by Day 81

“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;” Psalm 127:3-5. (NKJV)

Today, choose to honor your children with the gifts of your presence, your time and your attention.

In a fast paced, microwave, instant gratification, technologically filled day, it is all too easy to be with people and totally miss them.

Let’s shut off our laptops, tablets and phones.

Let’s see the blessing that is right in front of us.

Our windows of opportunity with our children are ever shrinking.

Our days with them under the same roof are fleeting.

Have we forgotten what an honor and blessing it is to be chosen to be parents, aunts, uncles and mentors of such precious treasures?

Have we allowed temporal distractions to rob us of one on one time with those who need our input, our wisdom and our influence?

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the children You have placed in my life. Often, I miss opportunities to invest in their lives because I am distracted. Help me to be intentional, to be present, and to be available to those who need me the most. Thank You for choosing me to be a (mother, father, aunt, uncle, mentor, friend) to _______________________________. Today I choose to let _______________________ know that he.she is a blessing in my life. I choose to focus on the eternal and forsake that which is temporal.
